Roofing Supplement Pricing: Questions Roofers Ask Us

How much does a roofing supplement company charge?

Most roofing supplement companies charge one of two ways: a flat fee per supplement (typically $100 to $150) or a percentage of the money they recover (anywhere from 8% to 15% of the increase). Flat fees are predictable but you pay whether or not the carrier approves anything. Percentage pricing means the company only gets paid when you do.

Estimate on Demand charges a percentage. On our standard Build plan, the fee is 10% of the difference between the carrier’s original estimate and the final approved estimate. There’s no monthly fee and no contract.

What happens if the carrier doesn’t approve an increase?

You don’t pay us. If the supplement doesn’t move the number, there’s no fee. When there is an increase, the fee is 10% of that increase, with no minimum: a supplement that adds $600 is billed at $60. Some jobs genuinely have nothing to supplement (a thorough adjuster, a carrier that rarely pays code upgrades) and we’d rather tell you that than bill you for paperwork.

When do I actually pay?

After the job closes, not before. We bill net 28 from the Friday after your job closes, so the carrier’s money is in your account before our invoice comes due. You’re never fronting a supplement fee out of pocket.

Is the Grow plan worth it?

Grow is $2,999 per month (billed quarterly) and drops the fee to 8% of the increase, with estimates at $79 instead of $99. The math works when you’re running enough supplement volume that the two-point difference outweighs the monthly fee. As a rough rule, if your supplements are recovering more than about $150,000 a month in increases, Grow saves you money. Below that, stay on Build. We’ll tell you when you’ve crossed the line.

What does the fee include?

Everything from the moment you upload the file to the moment the carrier issues the revised estimate. Our estimators, who are former insurance adjusters, review the carrier’s estimate against the photos, measurements and building codes, write the Xactimate supplement, submit it to the carrier, and chase it until it’s resolved. Following up is where most of the work is, and it’s included. You also get a client portal where you can see where every job stands.

How long does a supplement take?

We return the supplement to the carrier within 24 hours of receiving a complete file. From there, the carrier controls the clock. Our historical average from submission to a revised estimate is about 19 days, but that’s an average across many carriers, not a promise. Some carriers turn supplements in a week; some take six.

Do you have a minimum number of jobs?

No. Send us one job or a hundred. Roofers running a handful of insurance jobs a month use us the same way as companies doing thirty.

What about estimates for non-insurance work?

Roof and exterior estimates that aren’t supplements are $99 each on Build ($79 on Grow). For interior restoration, new builds and renovations, estimating is priced by the size of the job, starting at $129 for projects under $25,000 and scaling by a percentage of the estimate total above that. You get revisions until it’s right, a PDF and ESX file, and your logo in the header.

Are you a public adjuster?

No. Estimate on Demand writes and negotiates supplements on behalf of roofing contractors. We don’t represent homeowners, we don’t assess coverage, and we don’t perform damage inspections. If your client’s claim needs a public adjuster, we’ll say so.
